Around the World

My finish this time is a table cloth, called "Around the world". It is quilted with Multi color thread from YLI called Harvest. It is made from a kit purchased at Quiltestua. They have several kits for sale, and the pattern is available for free in Norwegian. I will give you the pattern in english in my own words. See additional pictures on their page! This is a very good scrap project!

Around the world
2 strips in 6 different colors; width 2 3/4 inch.
Inner frame 4 strips; width 2 3/4 inch.
Outer frame 4 strips; width 4 inch.
Binding 4-5 strips; width 2 1/4 inch.
Batting and binding.
Final size is approx 42x42 inches.
Sew together 6 strips, 1 of each color intoto a sleeve. Press to alternate sides. Repeat to make a second sleeve. Cut the sleeves into 2 3/4 inch sections.
Take 4 sections and undo stiches between patch 1 and 2. Put them in a cross with an empty spot in the middle. See pictures!
Then undo stiches on 4 sections between patch 2 and 3. Put on one strip in each of the areas sepated by the cross.
Repeat process by undoing stiches between patch 3 and 4 on next four section and so on.
When the patttern is comleted, take 1 patch from the section not used and place in the middle.
Sew the middle strips and single patch together, then each of the four areas. Sew together the two areas, then sew them tohether with the middle strip. Sew together two last sections, and sew to one piece.
Press and cut to adjust if necessary.
Add frame 1 and 2. Add thin batting and backing. Quilt as desired, an example is given in the picture below. Complete project by putting on binding.
If you want to change the size of the squares, just make the width of the strips and the sections cut from the sleeve the same new size.
