A bag for Laura

Pattern: #1172 "Scrap Bag Cuties" from Whistlepig Creek Productions
Straps from Cindy's Button Company (32")
Fabric and pattern was my sister-in law Laura's selection. I was not too exited in the beginning, but I like the final result, it is very much her style! Like a cup-cake with frosting. Pattern and fabric was purchased from Sew & Sew Quilts and Fabrics in Stanley, Wisconsin. Here is one of the front porch decorations, cute!
While shooting pictures of this bag, my cat Harry showed up and wanted attention.

Zippy Strippy New Year

"Zippy Strippy" by Athinson Design (ATK-149), large size (11,5"w x 6"h x 4"d). Moda Marbles fabric (maroon/red) and some black/grey scraps.
A good basic pattern. Make sure you get the stripes on in a correct angle, mine did not an the stripes did not match at the button of the bag.

Frolic Applique Quilt:
"Holly vine" and "Warm Milk" blocks are done. My stichery class helped me so I could also add the stem stiches. I am not happy with the applique yet, keep practicing?

Linn Juvel Baby suit. Need to assemble the pants and have to figure out how to crochet around the neck and arms. Back for the blue hooded jacket is also done.

Happy New Year!

Life is good, it's saturday, house is clean, chocolate taste in my mouth, fireplace is lit and so are my scented candles. My cats are asleep, they are actually snoring.

Moose hunting in my garden!

With fall comes hunting season.
This morning I woke up by elk hound barking in my garden. This is what I saw out of my bedroom window, two mooses and a dog by their feet! I tried to call for the dog, but he ignored me of course. I have not heard any gun-shots yet, so lets hope they survive the day.

My husband suggested that I let my cats out to distract the dog... Very funny. As appreciation for not being used as dog bait, Harry, one of my cats, joined me for breakfast instead.
Last weekend we had the last moose steak in the freezer from last year for dinner. I assume there will be possibilties for freezer refills soon.

Summer is here!

The quilt top for the Violetta Garden quilt is now done. The colors are a little off in this picture. But the picture is unique, since I got both , of my cats to pose. The cats are not the best of friends, and they try the best to ignore each other. No heavy fighting(no blood) so far. The white one is my old cat, and the black one I "rescued" on the way to be put to sleep, since the previous owners could not keep him anymore.

I will take the quilt with me to the US this summer, maybe I can get access to a long-arm machine, like to try to do that.

Below is some pictures from my garden. The garden is a mess since we had to redo the plumbing last fall, but still some flower left to enjoy.

Just a little update...

A nice weekend has gone by with wonderful weather. I have done some work in the garden, planted some more plants and replaced bark and fixed a rock wall. I also started to read the book "Kineseren" by Henning Mankell (ISBN-9788205380202). The picture shows the view to where I sit and read.

A litte update om my crafts projects:
Purple Sampler:
It is based on fabrics from "Summer nights and norhern lights" by Holly Taylor for Moda. It is a mix of smaller panels and sample blocks from these fabrics, plus some from my scrap pile. I have earlier made a handbag in these fabrics too, I love purple and green together. Do not know yet how to put it together, but it will come to me...
New York Beauty:
Progress here altso, but this is a very time consuming project. Got to figure out how to use the machine more, and less hand sewing....
Fisherman Knitted Afghan:
This is my third knitted afgan from the same book, see more info in earlier post. It consists of five panels, I am done with three and a half. The weather here in Norway is a little too warm for knitting at the moment. I am already plying with what to start next. Can not get the The Great American Aran Afghan out of my mind. Will probably pick up the pattern and yarn when going to the US in July.

I never feel lonely when blogging.

Flower Maze

I have now finished another quilt and pillow. The pattern is called Flower Maze by Lynette Jensen, from Thimbleberries. The fabric is also from Thimbleberries . The quilt is hand-quilted in the ditch. The pillow is not described in the pattern, but I had quite a bit of scraps, so I made a pillow based on the same idea's.
I had a hard time putting the quilt together (the sandwich), but after advise from fellow quilters at Trådsnella and my mother-in-law C, I am pleased with the result.
The kit was given me as a gift last years easter, by my husbands Aunt L in Chetek, Wisconsin. Thank you!
