Isleburgh Toories

Had a wonderful summer vacation week in Shetland. They have an annual toorie(hat) pattern published; this year the Isleburgh Toorie. They has a knit-along group on Facebook as well. In the first hat, I did not like how the k3tog was bulky. Got advice that when I knit 3 together, knit in the back on the 3rd stitch. Together with a tug in the stitches and a press, the hat is less bulky in the decrease.

I made 2 of them, since the first one was a little small for my big head and all my hair.

Yarn was Jamieson's of Shetland in colors:

122 Granite

239 Purple Heath

273 Foxglove

123 Oxford

812 Praire

St. Ninians Isle, Shetland

Tiril topp, hat neck and socks

Pattern:"Tiril Topp" by IdaVictoria. I used the arms a size bigger than the rest of the top, since my previous top got very tight in the arms. We are all different!

Fabric "Monstera Leaves" Digital Collection by Poppy; purchased from Rainbow Textile in Oslo;

When at the cabin, I have smaller projects to work on. My latest finsih is this pair of socks, and adaption of the pattern "Troll" socks. Yarn is Raggi from Jarbo Garn.

My mom knitted this set with at and neck, not bad for an very old lady! I helped starting and finishing the project. Yarn is Vera from Gjestal Garn, pattern in magazine "Hjemmet" Week1/2024.

Hooked on hats!

Hats are the perfect knitting project. Cheap, quick and a endless amount of styles available. You can never have enough hats.  For some reason I seem to loose my hats too....

This is the 8th hat I have knitted of this pattern, for me this time! Instead of Rauma Vamsegarn (100 % wool), I used 2 balls of Dale Continga (alpacca and merino wool).
The pattern (in Norwegian) is available for free at Rauma's page (September 2013).
Had a day off today. My hobbie and I went skiing at Blefjell, Buskerud, Norway. It snowed last night, and the tracks where fresh. Beautiful!

Diva hat

Picture from permin.dk
Knitting Kit: "Diva de Lux hue m /riller", 874801 by Permin. A very quick hat to make, looks good too! A little gold in the yarn will look good when we get closer to Christmas time. The kit is recommended!                                                                                                                                                                               The colors of the ornamental cabbage plant is pritty in fall. Love all seasons, and to explore them with my camera.

Hats! Hats!

Two more hats are done! The one above is once more The Scimney Sweepeers Hat  (pattern in Swedish) made in cotton (Dale Lerke). The hat was given to my son, and he actually agreed to have his picture taken!

The second hat I only made the top part and assembled for a lady. She is actually 96, still knits and bike 2 miles to the grocery store! I am honored that I could help her finish her hat! I mailed it off today, hope she likes it and that it will fit her!
