Here is another pattern for Christmas Ball. This pattern I remember as the first one I made when I learned to knit with several colors. The pattern is used in many norwegian traditional designs.
Advent is almost here, and I have designed a Christmas Ball (Julekule) for the season. We have a candle lit ceremony every sunday until christmas, with four candles.
Whishing all of you a Happy New Year with some pictures:

My deers, that live around my house. I love to watch them!
Me on the slopes today. This was a personal victory. Haven't been able to do downhill skiing for some years due to weight problems. In 2010 I have taken off 27 pounds.
We have just remodelled our bedroom. In the picture above, I have knitted Julekuler, with yarn: Brazilia Lame by Schachenmayr (idea and purchase from local yarn store Ullrik). They look like snowballs!
I missed Santa Claus/Gnomes patterns in the book "Julekuler", so I was challenged to make my own pattern. Here is the free pattern for your personal use.
Use the basic description from the book. I recommend Dale Falk yarn and 3.5 mm knitting needles.
I added a black stich for mouth, optional!
On the needles right now is Julekuler made with yarn: Brazilia Lamè by Schachenmayr purchased from a local yarn shop called Ullrik. The yarn has a gourgeous sparkle. They will look like snowballs and can be used after christmas as well. I will show you later!
Oh yes, finally something new to get hooked on! A norwegian book came ot this year on how to make knitted scandiavian christmas ornaments. A quick good projects to get rid of some of your excess yarn!
The book is delicate, pritty and easy to understand, but with some bugs that should have been washed out when reviewed (see e.g. buttom of page 23; xx). And where are the santa patterns? 55 patterns and no santa???? Luckily they made it possible to design your own patterns! Wonder if I can publish own pattern on my blog, or will that be a copyright problem? View all my reviews
I was able to finish two ornaments before my hand surgery, here they are:
