Summer Vacation 2015

Not much to show for in the crafting section, only these pot holder for my mom (as ordered). I have made many of these, see info in earlier posts.

I had a great week in Lofoten, Norway with my family, parents and uncle. Did get time for some horseback riding at Hov Hestegård, a memorable time "tølting" along the beach.
Icelandic horse Mimir.
I visit the Skral festival in Grimstad and listen to Hozier. <3 <3
Later my husband and I went to England; here are some pictures:
Tracy Park & Golf in Wick
Victoria Park, Bath
The Island Chapel in St.Ives
St. Michael's Mount outside Penzance
The Bear Hotel in  Devizes
My 18 year old son got his driving license this summer, see him drive out of the yard for the first time was a milestone.  He has spent the last fourweeks in the US. He has been a counselor at a summer camp. I even got to read about him in the local paper Leader Telegram! I am very proud of him. The biggest event is though seeing my cabin being built up in the mountains. It actually made me cry the first time I saw it. It should be ready for Christmas. Got to make quilts, curtains, and furniture this fall!
Now back to work!

More Easy Hats!

I have made quite a few of these hats, this time for my pretty relative Miss C, who spent this weekend with us up in the mountains. She had forgotten to bring a hat, but I mended that friday night. She looks great with a norwegian fjord horse at Langedrag Mountain Farm and Wildlife Park.
Yarn: Easy from Sandnes Garn
Pattern: Sandnesgarn Kit 21

Home again!

A great and varied vacation this year, came back refreshed and with some new stash; several handbag fabric and accessories, Christmas raffle projects and some fabric with horse print. First we went to the north of Norway with the midnight sun.
Hawaii, snorkeling with sea turtles, glowing volcanoes and beautiful flowers.
Then to Wisconsin to see family. I did not get much progress on my English paper piecing, but I finished a pair of pot holders for my dear sister in law.
Pattern: Crochet for the Kitchen By Tove Fevang ( pattern slightly adjusted)
A good tutorial on tunisian crochet.
Yarn: Cotton Time by Schahenmeyer, cream and coral. A good yarn that does not split while crocheting!
I am a cat person, but this puppie got to me!

Denali handbag

When I travel, I buy fabric instead of all the junk you can get as souvenirs. These fabrics where purchased last summer in Denali, Alaska, USA. For the inside of the bag I used a lighter scrap fabric, which makes it easier to find smaller items inside. The bag is washable.

This bag is my contribution in a sew-along, hosted by "Epla", the magazine "Dilla på håndlaget" and the shop "Stoff & Stil". Pattern is here (norwegian). The bag must be finished by March 26, you have still time to enter!

I'm back online!

Yes it's time to get back on track with blogging and crafts after a wonderful vacation! I am almost done with my first project, just the binding to go before I can show it off. I have lots of pictures from my vacation. This picture I shot in Hope, Alaska. It makes me smile. My neighbor suggested the text.
I agree Eddie, those humans really looks suspicious, but don't worry, I'll break left here...
Or maybe a good text would be:  "Hon, what's for dinner today?"
Any more ideas?
See you again here soon!

Tulip Table Cloth

I am very happy with this table cloth! My quilting mojo is low, but beautiful tulips in my garden inspired me! The paper-pieced block pattern made by A Quiling Jewel was a part of the Garden Party Blog Hop at Sew Hooked. Love it, thank you for sharing the pattern!

I spent the weekend at Norefjell Spa & Resort, a lovely stay. I love the interior design on this norwegian mountain resort! You can find more pictures from my previous stay here.

Work in slow progress

Spend the easter weekend in Strømstad, Sweeden. Cold weather but a very nice place. Especially I enjoyed my running trips around an island.
No finishes lately in the craft area, but some slow progress. I was planning to finish the second Anne's Flower mittens during the easter break, but I did not have enough yarn and did a stupid mistake in the beginning. I will get more yarn and start again..
In the meantime I started a pair of socks instead....
I have had some progress om ny caleidoscope quilt.
I am doing some work with X-Block ruler, do not know yet where this will end....

Guitar hat

It has been a long time since I made something for my son. He plays the guitar, so I made him a guitar hat. The basic pattern is from the hat "We call them pirates". The guitar is from the book "Hatheads" by Trond Anfinnsen (also in norwegian: "Luer er toppen"). The note on top is my sons own design.
I also made him a pair of felted slippers. (Drops Design #0-568)
We spent this weekend in a rented cabin in the mountains in Telemark, the slippers kept his feet warm.
Here are some more pictures from this weekend.

Langedrag Mountain Farm and Wildlife Park

Have you ever been to Langedrag Mountain Farm and Wildlife Park?  I have been there several times in the summertime, but it is also highly recommended to go there in the winter. If you are visiting Norway and wants to see the animals, which is hard in the wild, but here you get to see them up close.  The animals on the farm seems to be awake, alert and in good health.  The moose is so huge!
This beatiful lynx I wanted to hug, but it is not recommended.

If you have a dream of dog sledding, here is your chance to do so!

US Vacation 2010

Finally I have organized my 2010 vacation pictures, and will in this post, give you a brief summary of our great vacation. We flew from Oslo to Philadelphia and then onto Las Vegas where we stayed a couple of days to recover at Luxor. We then rented a Ford Explorer to continue our travels, first to Hoover Dam with 113 degrees (45 celcius).

The Grand Canyon was very impressive!

In Monument Valley, we first experienced a heavy rain shower, but it soon lifted and rainbows emerged. A picture can't justify the beauty!
In Colorado, we took the steam train from Durango to Silverton, an old western town.
Mesa Verde, old indian settlements.

In South Dakota, we visited Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse.

We then traveld to my husband's home state Wisconsin. I saw a live wild bear for the first time. Excuse the picture quality, I was a little shaky.
Down on the farm.
