"In from the Cold" Table Runner and Placemats

Fabric is "In from the Cold" by Kate Spain for Moda. Design is my own, a simple design is requires for such a pritty fabric line. The picture is taken at Vegglifjell, near Hardangervidda National Park in Norway. From the scraps, I made two placemats, which will be christmas presents for my Uncle R.
I had to make another hat to, for my sister M for christmas.
And I have made a bon-bon for this hat, knitted by my mother. It will be a christmas present for her great-grandson B. Fun with those family projects!

I want to wish all my blog friends Happy Holidays!

The placemats are made from Hugs and Holly by the Wooden Bear (Moda).
The blocks are 4,5 inches
For the corner stars I used a tutorial at Jo's Country Junction.

Here is my updated list, slow progress again:

  4. 2 panels done in Oh My Stars! project.
  5. Christmas present for Rob&Sue (fabric from sales rack at Kathrine's Quiltestue). Must be done to mail off early December.
  6. Knitted Shawl for myself.
  7. Knitted headband for somebody.Status:No progress.
  8. Knitted hat for Uncle Nils. Pattern(in Swedish), but cast on 20 stitches.
Added:
  1. Added:Pieced and finsihed Marius baby hat.
  2. Finish hat by Tulla.Status:No progress.
  3. Another knitted hat  as 8), Status: almost done.
  4. English paper piecing project. Status: Started
The paper piecing project I added to have a portable project, and a project that hopefully does not make my arm hurt (Trying to take a break from knitting).
I am still debating about the design of this project. I have only one light fabric, unsure if I should try to find another, or does that one fabric used as squares keep it together? Buy more of light fabric for frame?
Added 4: English Paper Piecing

Checkered Placemats

I can now hand sew again after surgery, had a part of a stich in the wrist left behind, removing it made a big difference, even though it was only 5 mm long. Finishing some quilting projects; binding is comming on! First to get done are these two checkered placemats. A very beautiful pattern/picture fabric requires a simple patchwork. But this is getting a little boring. I need a challenge, but first I will finish a few bindings!

Some ambitious goals for 2011:
  • try to purchase only fairy plain fabric in beautiful colors and all shades.
  • no purchase of new yarn before at least one project is finished
  • not start a new project unless I finish another one (quilting and knitting)
  • improve my quilting skills
  • know what to do with the finished project before starting them
  • set up as a ravelry designer
  • have one quilting pattern published
  • sell a large quilt
  • have one knitting pattern published
  • host my first giveaway or do something to get more blog readers. Get spellchecking working.

Veranda Romatic Placemats

Another quick finish!
Same fabric and pattern inspiration as for the table cloth, but placemats this time. The solid piece on the side is 5,5 inches wide.
They will be a wedding present.

Next goal is to finish the bear quilt. I will probably also start a throw from a Violetta Garden kit from The Violet Patch.

Have a wonderful springtime!

Four Thimble Placemats

The basic pattern is from the book "Lappeteknikk slik gjør du det" by Tove Fevang. This is my second project based on this book, the other one was a log-cabin.
The fabric was purchased at Larvik Kommune Gavekroken.
The wine glass in the picture is made by a local supplier "Kongsberg Glassblåseri"
I will give the placemats as a lottery price to "Jondalen Sanitetsforening".

I am thinking of another design for these placemats, where I will replace the green thimbles with christmas greens (trees), and the other thimbels in christmas reds. Binding should be green. Quilting with gold thread. - If I get time, too many projects right now. It's time to start making christmas presents!
