WISP: Oh my Stars!

11 more blocks done for my slow going Oh my Stars! quilt, I am then 27% done with the blocks according to my spreadsheet. What a nerd I am!

I am heading off to London for a couple of days this. I love London, can never get sick of it. Planning, among others, to visit Liberty of London fabric department.

I have not much traffic on my blog. Do anybody have any suggestion to how I can improve my blog and get more hits?

Work in slow progress

Spend the easter weekend in Strømstad, Sweeden. Cold weather but a very nice place. Especially I enjoyed my running trips around an island.
No finishes lately in the craft area, but some slow progress. I was planning to finish the second Anne's Flower mittens during the easter break, but I did not have enough yarn and did a stupid mistake in the beginning. I will get more yarn and start again..
In the meantime I started a pair of socks instead....
I have had some progress om ny caleidoscope quilt.
I am doing some work with X-Block ruler, do not know yet where this will end....

Happy New Year!

Wanted to show you some hats that I made as christmas presents. For my mom, "Anne's Flower", I used Juvel yarn and knitting needles 2.5. I used the privisional cast-on method, worked very well.

For my sister's daughter, Rauma Cable Hat:

I also made another a pair of felted slippers for my uncle, but I forgot to take a picture:-(

I have finished all the christmas present blocks for Kate Spain's All a Flurry. Should I take out the red block?
I made this angel many years ago, it was on display at moms. Whish I remembered were I found the pattern, very cute. Thinking of making one larger one (this one is only 4cm high!)

Wish you all a Happy Crafty New Year!

PHD: Frolic

I had to start another project.... This pattern I purchased from Katrines Quilte Stue this summer. The pattern is called Frolic by The Vintage Spool. It will be my first larger applique project, I am getting bored by only doing patchwork. This will certainly take time to finish. I do not now which block to make next, some of them look very difficult...

Peonies and a little romance

Finally, my Peonies (Bowl of Beauty I think) are blossoming. I got the plant for at least five years ago, but moved if last spring when it did not seem to blossom. I moved it to a place closer to the house with loose soil and more regular watering. And today the first flower opened up!

I will also show you a preview of the quilt project I am working on, I feel a new pattern will take shape here!
It is a Moda Jelly Roll called "A Little Romance" purchased from Kathrines Quilte Stue for half price.

Sneak Preview

Just a little post to show you what is going on at my quilting table today. It will probably be another lap-size quilt, and maybe a pillow. If I am happy with the result, I will make a pattern and make it available. Quite a few quilting hours in the future though.

My Baby Jane

I recently participated in a Dear Jane class with Hanne. Very inspirational to learn some new techniques!

The 1863 Jane A. Stickle quilt is a very facsinating sampler quilt. It is described in a book by Linda Manges Papadakis.
But I do not know if I will make all the blocks or only some of them. It will be an in between project. Do not know if I shall add more colors or not. It will come to me..... Feel free to comment and make suggestions!

Mona's Cable Scarf

The scarf has 36 stiches, and the yarn and cables as on the pillow I made eatlier, see instructions. If I should knit this scarf again, I would have started with a cable, it now curles up on the sides. Thanks to my husband for being a model. This scarf could be a good present for a man, since he did not object too much...

Another preview of the Pinapple Dream:
I am now done with the 36 blocks, and have picked off the paper. Piceing them together.Adding a frame and quilting still to come, unsure how I will do that, but it will come to me!

Sneak Preview

This was a sneek preview on my current quilt work; work title "Pineapple Dream". Paperpiecing. The paper pattern is from the book "Positively Pinapple" by Lynda Milligan & Nancy Smith. The design is inspired by this book, but not a copy of a specific design.I am playing with the idea of entering a competition with this quilt, but I am not sure.

I have just finished the historical novels by Wilhelm Moberg, "Utvandrerne" og "Innvandrerne". They tell the story of a swedish family leaving a very hard life in Sweden, immigrating to Minnesota to start a new and challenging life. The books are available in many languages and is recommended.

I am very fascinated by this time period, amongst others due to my family history. My great Grandmother Lydia emgigrated, leaving my grandfather to grow up with her sister. He was born outside of marrige. He had a hard time with his history this the rest of his life. She married a man in Iowa without having met him and started a new family. She was joined by other sisters who also emigrated; Kristine and Karoline. I am still in contact with some of their decendants, and I have visited them and they have visited me.

Note! The latest issue of Quiltemagasinet (Nr 5/08) is a very good issue! Lots of good projects.

I need help!

Here is a picture of the blocks of the Purple/Green sampler that I have made so far. It was started a long time ago, and I like the fabric so much - I really want to finish it.

The blocks are quilted by hand or machine. I still have scraps from most of the fabrics, and quite a bit of the leaf fabric with blue/purple background.

Anybody out there that have any ideas on how to put this together? Any free pattetens I can use? Please, leave a comment, it will be a appreciated!

More baby socks and a quilting UFO

I have now knitted 9 pairs of baby socks for the local hospital (see earlier post).

The picture above shows the last three. I have used a yarn called "Baby Ull" from Gjestal spinneri. The knitting pattern is from the book 0105 Sandnes mandarin petit no 9, pattern 1G. The silk ribbons made them look so much better! I have since then started knitting a new afghan, called Fisherman using flecked light brown yarn. Picture will come when I get done.

I also have a UFO(Unfinised Object) which is causing me some headaches. It does not seem to come together correctly. I have started to handquilt, but there are to many wrinkles in the fabric. Anybody have some advice for me?
I am planning to make some pillows from the scraps too.
I will post a picture with pattern info and so on when I get done.
